Feel like you know where we're going. And when you're able to trust yourself and articulate what that vision is and run with it, I'm like there what's you? I'm like, bring me along, girl. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_01Not only are you like number one hype girl, but you are number one yes girl.
SPEAKER_00Exhibit A on TikTok.
SPEAKER_01I literally don't know if I've ever met a bigger yes girl in my life.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna open it. You wanna do the last episode of season one? Yeah, like I do make down another episode of season one. We're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_01Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Mom's Off Script. I'm Meg. And I'm Mary. And welcome to our season finale. Season finale. We are gonna wrap things up tonight for the first season. Put a little bow on it. Yeah, and then we will be back in a few months. This has been incredible. We're gonna get all into it. But first, how are you? What's going on? I'm good. You know, it's springtime, so the weather's getting nice. It's so nice. And May is Mental Health Awareness Month. So I'm doing like a mile a day challenge, which is kind of cool. So I'm supposed to be running like 31 miles in the month of May, but because I did the half last weekend, I had like racked up those 31 miles pretty quick. So I changed the goal of the month was to run one mile a day. So I have a run streak going. Okay. I ran a half last weekend and it was fantastic. So um now I'm just kind of gearing up for the 5K training. I'm not mentally prepared. Ah, it's gonna be so fun. How are you? What are you up to?
SPEAKER_02I'm good. I don't have too much going on. I also like you enjoying the warm weather. So just getting outside and the kids have sports again. Yes. I recently finished a video game. I think I talked about this on podcasting. Yeah, I think you did. Yes, our Nancy drew friends, and I finally finished the game I was playing. It was so satisfying. So I'm in a little bit of a slump from that, being like, now what do I do? Yeah. So yeah, I'm gonna go back to reading and stuff. That was kind of my after bedtime activity, and now I have to pick up a book again. Cool, cool, cool. I actually have something for you. You have something for me? I have something. Well, it's kind of for both of us. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Oh-da! So cute. Hold it up. Show her. Be careful. Show her.
SPEAKER_02I thought we could uh make a little celebratory wish and come enjoy a little trigger wrench during the episode today. You're gonna love that.
SPEAKER_00This is so cute. This is for you.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right. So what are we wishing for? Can't say it. No, no, no, no. Like, what are what's like I know we can't say it? Wishes for the podcast. What any? One, two, three.
SPEAKER_00Yay! This is so cute. All right, okay. There you go. Yes. Chefies out. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I got like a really pink butt. Hold on what I'm trumping. That's pretty good. I like it.
SPEAKER_02Did you buy this or make it? I bought it. I I handmade the logo on the top, though. That's cute. I have to find a laminating machine every time. Yeah. It works. Yes. You know what actually was the hardest thing to find in the office?
SPEAKER_01The laminating paper. Scissors. Cut it out. No one has scissors anymore. What? I know. You know what? People come and ask me for scissors all the time. No. Honestly.
SPEAKER_02We're such a remote place that it's fantastic.
SPEAKER_01That I'm distracted us with cake.
SPEAKER_02Is this the same thing you were drinking last week?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is that recessed drink, but this one is blood orange. So, like I did my run this morning and we did yoga. We did. So it's like I need my magnesium before I go to bed. There you go. So yeah. How's your wine? Fantastic.
SPEAKER_02This one is called El Jefe, which is like big and bold and oaky. I like it. That's the kind of wine that I like. I love it. Good for you. So this is our 30th episode. 30th episode. When I said that to my mom today, she's like, what are you guys doing tonight? I was like, what's the last episode? And she was like, wow, how many has it been? I was like, 30. She's like, there's no way I've listened to 30.
SPEAKER_01Actually, 31, technically, because we had that bonus episode. Yeah. Which is crazy. Well, you remember the bonus episode? No, because it's not part of the season. It's a bonus. You know, get you know, like how bonuses work.
unknownShut up.
SPEAKER_02No, it was it was I can't believe it's been 30. Like, I know. When I look back at all the topics, I'm like, I can't believe all of these things happened in the first season.
SPEAKER_01I don't. I feel like we have just like evolved so much in this process, and we've really like hunkered down and gotten excited about this hobby. And I think for me, we've talked a lot about how it was so hard for me to start a podcast. Or it took me so long, right? It was so hard and it took me so long because I had to commit to something. And deep down at my core, when I, you know, someday when my therapist uncovers it, like I am somebody who's afraid of a commitment, you know, and I, or sort of. And so to like start this and put myself out there and say to somebody, it's time. Yeah, I'm ready to do this, and I'm ready to do this with you. I did it. Yeah, you did. We did. We did it. It's amazing. It's been nine months since we've had this conversation. I remember it being spring. I feel like it's been almost a year. It's definitely been almost a year because it was definitely spring of last year. So May or June. Were you planted the seat? Where I was like, I would like to do a podcast.
SPEAKER_02What do you think about podcasts? It wasn't even like a full ask. It was just, what do you think about this? You remember where we were? We were on the in my backyard playing on the play swings, weren't we?
SPEAKER_01We were on the swing set that you're on photo shoot. Yeah. And I was just like, interested in podcasts?
SPEAKER_02Would you ever want to do a podcast? And I remember being like, Yeah, absolutely, because I literally never shut up. So, like, do you want to sit around my basement and drink wine and chat? Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then what, like a week later, you had a whole spreadsheet sent to me of like ideas, like what do you want to do? And I was like, Oh my god, we're doing it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're doing it.
SPEAKER_01I was literally like, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02In I think you've always had a better long-term vision for it. I've been like the short-term ideas, things. Let's do this, let's do this. And you're like, Yes, all these things, but North Star, this is where we're going, like keeping keeping us on track so we don't just like veer off into space.
SPEAKER_01What has allowed you the space to dig into this and commit to this?
SPEAKER_02Oh man, I think it's a few things, right? We've talked about our coaching past and how I retired from coaching after my daughter was born. So that was obviously a ton of time and just effort and mental space and energy. And when that time was freed up, I had a baby. Yeah, like a second baby. So that was immediately filled by newborn life and just being consumed by that. And I was very okay with that happening because I knew this was gonna be our last time having a baby. And I was like, you know what? Newborn trenches, like it's gonna suck, but like let's just enjoy it because it's the last one. So I was fine with with that happening. But now we're kind of through the newborn trenches and we can breathe a little bit. At least I feel like that. Like the two, my two kids play together now. Right. And I can like do stuff on my own. The other day, for the first time, I did a workout down here on the Peloton while the two of them played in this room.
SPEAKER_01Isn't that so great?
SPEAKER_02I I it's a new world of opportunity. It's in it's incredible. So we've been slowly moving to this space of like actually having time to breathe. And I think we jumped into the podcast before that was quite the case. Yes, but it's gotten easier as that has become more and more the case. And when we decided to start it, you know, my daughter had just turned two, and I was like, I think this is only gonna get easier in terms of time commitment. And that was definitely true. And then I think the last thing is Joey, right? My husband has been super supportive. I know he's not on the pod, he's not on social media, but he is supportive from the wings. He's like the wizard behind the curtain, always supportive. Every time we're here recording, he's on duty upstairs if the kids are crying or need something. And you know, when I'm editing, you know, at night, he knows that that's the deal, or if it's the weekend, I'm like, hey, I just need to finish a couple things up and he'll take the kids. Like, it would not be possible if he wasn't helping out. So I think those are like the logistical things that all made it happen. Yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_01I feel the same way. I think for me, because I was already in that space of like my kids are playing together and yeah, you were a little ahead. I was a little bit ahead. Um, my daughter's almost a year, a full year older than yours. Almost. And so my kids were already kind of there that it was, it wasn't necessarily like I needed to like fill a void, but it was I was ready. You were ready. I was ready. And Alan was a huge supporter. We've said this before. Alan did a podcast before with his friends, um, Matt, who was on the pod, and he knows what it takes to do this. He understood that it was a big undertaking. He's always been a huge supporter of me doing things outside of the home, me having social experiences and not necessarily just identifying as a mom, which I think has been very helpful. And he's had a lot of fun joining us on the podcast. Yes. Alan, get ready for season two, Avatar. Jeez, I'm not, I'm not ready for those books to come out. I know you two are. We'll get you on board. I'm gonna run a 5K. You can read Avatar. I don't know if I can read Avatar. Listen to it. I've you can't listen to Smuddy books. Yeah, you can. I have tried. You'll be able to run like anyway. I don't listen to books while I run. But yeah, I think I was ready. It was just the right time, right time, right place, right people. And here we are. I think it's been very interesting because it's allowed me to grow in a space that I didn't really know that I was going to. And it's been such a fun hobby. It's challenged me, right? We had a conversation literally this morning on our way home from yoga where we were talking about planning stuff, and we like have had planning meetings, and you were like, I always know when you want to say something and you just don't, like you're not ready to say it. And it's like, and I feel like I am saying things to you more than I've ever said to people, and I'm challenging myself and having constructive conversations in a way that I haven't been able to before. And so I think that's really fun to not only be confident in myself, which I feel like I've always had confidence, it's a matter of like fear of the unknown of what other people's perception of me are. And so while I am confident in who I am and what is going on inside and what I've thinking and what I want to say, I'm not always confident in how the person is going to receive it. So I shy away from kind of those conversations. And this project has allowed me and almost forced me to have to do that. If I want this to be successful, I have to get in front of a microphone every week and talk to people that aren't sitting in the room with me. Yeah. I have to tell you this is the vision. Do you agree with the vision? And if you don't, like let's figure out, figure it out together. And like what does our brand look like? And I think that's been a really challenging journey for me, but I think it's been eye-opening and really fun to get to use my voice in a way I've always known I could. So thank you for that.
SPEAKER_02I was saying before how you like hold that North Star. I feel like you know where we're going. And when you're able to trust yourself and articulate what that vision is and run with it, I'm like there, what do? I'm like, bring me along, girl. That's good.
SPEAKER_01Not only are you like number one hype girl, but you are number one yes girl. Exhibit A on TikTok. I literally don't know if I've ever met a bigger yes girl in my life.
SPEAKER_02Because why not? Right? Like that, I think that's the biggest thing I feel like I've gotten out of this is just enjoying the ride and having so much fun. And I think I said in our New Year's episode, I was like, this is the year of like doing what makes me happy and enjoying things. And the podcast makes me happy. Yeah. And spending time with you makes me happy. Like when I was thinking about it today, I was like, what do I feel like I've gotten the most out of the podcast? Like, how have I grown? And I think truly the number one thing for me is just getting to hang out with you and spending time with you and being like, this is so nice just to like spend time with your friend and have like a committed time that you know you're gonna hang out with someone. And yes, it's a fun thing, and there's obviously there's the community that we're building and all these other fun things about it, but like at its core, I'm just you asked me before the podcast started. You I don't know if you remember this. You said, you probably do, because you remember everything I always forget. But you said, How many people do you think need to listen to the podcast for you to feel like it's worthwhile for your time? And I said, You're about you don't remember what I said. You said what? I said what if one person is listening and we get to hang on the basement and have these conversations, even if it's just your mom. Literally, I don't care. Like this is so fun. And I think kind of on the other end of what you were saying, where you were like, I'm trying to be, you know, accepting and aware of what people think and like letting people receive my message, you know, come what may, I've almost kind of completely released that. I'm like, people are gonna think what they want to think, yeah. And I'm gonna say what my truth is, and if you don't agree with it, that's fine. If you think my TikTok is cringy and weird, that's fine. I'm having a blast. So, like, that's kind of the game plan of this whole thing. I'm just like, when you're like, let's do a TikTok where you hold me upside down and don't like dream on my bum. I'm like, okay, sounds great.
SPEAKER_00Let's do it. So, yes, please do the Taylor Swift dance. Okay, all right. That sounds great. I'll I'll know it by tonight.
SPEAKER_01So the point of all of this is that moms can have hobbies. Um revolutionary, right? Like we can do it. We can work, we can feed our kids, we can run, we can read books, we can play video games, we can watch TV, smuddy TV, smuddy. Oh, I thought you were referring to Heat Remory. In which case the answer for both is yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay, great.
SPEAKER_01But like we can, what else did we talk about on the podcast? We can all the things that we talked about this season and we have this hobby. Yes. And I think that is the biggest takeaway from all of this is if you are ready to do something or you are missing something in your life, think about it. What do you want to do? Do you want to go to the store and pick up one of those crochet kits and start learning how to crochet? What do you want to do next? Like there's so many different do you want to pick up running? Let me know. Hit me up. I will help you with that. I I don't know. Do you want to go back to school? I don't know. There's so many different things that we as women have opportunities to do. And as moms, it is very, very challenging. But if you surround yourself with the right mindset and the right people, you can you can do whatever you want.
SPEAKER_02I completely feel the same way. I think there's a period where you might feel consumed by it. Right. I think everyone to some extent feels a little consumed by it at some point. Oh, absolutely. And I I don't think that will ever go away. Yeah, there's there's a period of just how does anyone do anything but just get through the day and exist? Right. Let alone shower, let alone go for a run, let alone have a hobby. What even is life? I remember feeling that way so vividly. Just when am I ever gonna do anything ever again? And I want to make a point of that. I don't shower as much as I would like to because I'm doing other things. Sometimes we sacrifice a shower to be in video. But the point is that space is not forever. It's okay to be in that space, and it's really common to be in that space. But if you're in that space now, just know if you want to come out of it, you will. And it's okay if you don't know what it is yet. It's okay if it doesn't feel like you ever will. It's okay if you're like, I don't know what it is, that's all fine. But the day will come where you'll realize you'll look around and like pull your head up and breathe and be like, oh my gosh, I have a freaking minute.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. What can I do with it? And the other thing is, who knows when that is, right? Like I'm pushing 40. And that's young. Yeah. Right? Like I'm pushing 40, and we met what four years ago. Did we really? Yeah, we did. Wow. Right? I know. Were you saying that was a long time ago or a short time ago? A long time. Right. And I'm I'm saying that as like a short time ago, right? Like that's a great example of like it's it's all perspective, right? And so if you're in it, or if you don't want to start a hobby right now, like maybe it's because you don't know what that is. Yeah. When someone or something comes across your plate and an opportunity, I think the biggest piece of advice I could give you is like seize it. Like there is something that's giving you that like twinge or that that mom gut feeling, but maybe it's not mom gut because it has nothing to do with your kids. Yeah. But it's that like feeling of like this is something in front of me, and I really want to grab it, but I'm scared, or I am a mom and I don't have time, or I'm a woman and I don't actually have that opportunity, or like a man's gonna do it better than me, so I shouldn't do it. Or like the pretty girl on TikTok is like gonna do it better than me. So what's the what's the point of all of it? That's the point. Right. Who cares? Yeah, you do it.
SPEAKER_02And if you're listening to this and then you have a little tickle, you're thinking of the thing, like as we're talking about it, and you're like, oh, it's it's the book I want to write, or it's going back to school. Like you think you're thinking about it right now, that's the thing. And maybe it's not right this second, but like know that that's the thing, lock it in your heart, and know like that's where I'm going and I will get there. Knowing that is huge.
SPEAKER_01I'm a big believer in like manifesting things. Oh, me too. And I'm not a big journaler. When it comes to manifesting things for me, it's really about thinking something and thinking it and like putting it out into the world, whether I know I'm doing it or not. We've talked about the fact that I ended up back in Massachusetts. I remember at seven years old we moved, there was like an underlying piece of me that was like, someday I'm gonna move back to Massachusetts. And I was in my mid-30s when I moved back here. And I had forgotten that. That was when I was seven years old. And so for me, that whole idea of like manifesting is not necessarily writing it down, not necessarily having a mantra or like speaking it into existence, but thinking something, believing that it can happen, taking the steps to get there, maybe forgetting about it, and then waking up one day and being like, oh wait, this is the thing I always wanted. I'm here. Yeah, I made it happen.
SPEAKER_02This reminds me of the universe doesn't speak in negatives, right? Like whatever you're thinking about, whatever you're holding in your head is the thing that the universe is gonna give you. So if you're constantly thinking, oh, I don't want this, I'm nervous about this, don't do that, oh God, I'm worried about this, the universe is gonna give you that thing because you're always thinking about it. But if you're thinking about the things you want, holding that vision in your head, manifesting where you want to be, focused on where you can go, the universe will be like, oh, this is what they want. This is all they're thinking about. So like let's give them the opportunity, but also knowing that that opportunity might not look like what you think it's gonna look like, or seizing it anyway, right? Being like, okay, this is the thing. I'm also a huge believer in manifesting and the power of your own thoughts and your own brain. And Joey and I have talked about this a lot because he has told me that that is something that he's learned from me is that power of putting out into the universe the thing you want and making it so, right? I greet every day with the intention of I'm gonna make today a good day. And not every day is a good day, but when you greet it with that mindset, your odds of a good day are like exponentially increased.
SPEAKER_01And I think there's something to say about motherhood or just any of this that feeling stuck is very common. Yeah. And waking up and not being able to have that attitude, or not being able to greet the morning or like rise in a sun salutation every day. Like I don't I don't think that that is realistic. No, it's not. And I think that it comes more naturally or easier to some people than others. I do think that you have to work at it, whether it comes naturally to you or not. It is something that you'd have to put a lot of effort into. But just because you feel stuck and just because you don't feel comfortable waking up every morning, and how did you phrase it, greeting the day with like positivity or greeting the day that it's going to be a good day? If that's not that's not you, that's okay. What you should then try to do is just say, This moment is in front of me, right? Like it takes a lot of courage and a lot of energy to seize that. But if you're feeling stuck and or that doesn't come naturally to you, the amount of effort you have to put in is more. Oh yeah. But the point I'm trying to make is really it's up to you. Right? It is your life, you get one. There will be a moment that you can grasp on to and you will grasp onto, and you will make the choice. Yeah. Once you make that choice, you can see that it will become easier to continue to make choices in that direction. If I'm stuck or like I'm having a shitty week or a shitty day, or I don't know what to do next, like sitting in that, soaking it in, letting that be and then moving past it.
SPEAKER_02A thousand percent. Because it's not toxic positivity, it's not everything's fine in the face of shit, right? Like when things are bad, let things be bad, and then be ready to move on from those things. And I think it's about making the choice to decide what kind of day or life or week you're gonna have and take action to make that happen. Instead of being like, Well, we'll see what happens. When I say seize the day, I mean it as you decide. You can wake up and roll out of bed and be like, you know what, today's gonna be shit, and then it probably will be right, or you can. Wake up and be like, okay, I'm gonna get up. I'm gonna do I'm gonna do the one thing I need to do this morning to like feel like myself, take a shower, or drink some coffee, or meditate for five minutes, or scream into the void, whatever it takes. Like do the thing that will help you get there 100% and make those choices to to to make it happen. Let's get that cake back up here. Okay, yeah. We need more cake.
SPEAKER_01Let's go, let's go.
SPEAKER_02Which one?
SPEAKER_01Which side was your range? I don't remember now. Um was it like this? Probably, yeah. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, because we like faced it towards the screen. Yeah. This cake represents the end of season one. The end of season one. The wishes that we have for the future. We are so excited to take a little break. We are coming back in November. We have so many fun things planned for you guys. Over the summer and in season two. Yes. We have guests lined up and we want to know what you guys want to know. Yeah. Comment on our TikToks, send us some emails. What do you want to hear on mom's off script? Because that's what this is about. This is about building community. Maris talked about it so much that, like, this is a community-building project. So tell us what you want to hear. Are there guests that you want to hear from? Are there topics that you're stuck on and you want to hear? Or are there do you want to be a guest? Do you want to? Oh my gosh. Do you want to be a guest? Come on, mom's outscript. We usually have cake. We don't usually have cake. Well, we do sometimes.
SPEAKER_02This is only we have had cake twice and scones once. So that's a pretty good trap right here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That happened. So some things we have planned for season two. Like we said, we have some guests. We want some feedback. We're gonna hear about kindergarten. Actual kindergarten. Oh my god, my son has preschool graduation in two weeks.
SPEAKER_02I'm not ready for preschool graduation.
SPEAKER_01Like they do a whole graduation ceremony.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know, because last year I went to our schools, like Teddy wasn't graduating, but like it's it was the whole school did like a little performance, and then the graduating kids saying, This little light of mine wasn't even my kid. I'm sobbing my eyes out. I'm like, I'm not gonna make it through it when Teddy does it. Wait, that's so so cute.
SPEAKER_04I was like, Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01I don't even know what ours is gonna be like, but that's in like two weeks. So by the time season two comes out, we will have had two or three months into kindergarten. Yep. So we're gonna talk about that transition. We know Bridgerton's coming back, so Alan might come back on the podcast. We might have some cameos from Alan.
SPEAKER_02I'll also I'll also have a three-year-old, so we'll finally know if two is better than three when it comes to age. Oh my god, I thought you meant you were gonna have another baby. I was like, Holy shit, balls. No, that's like not an announcement.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so there's this isn't a pink and blue, Kate. Oh my god, can you imagine? No, I would die. I would die.
SPEAKER_02Not from excitement. Oh my god. No. Don't do that to my heart. I was saying that you know how everyone says, oh, terrible twos, and then whenever inevitably, if you're complaining about your two-year-old, they go, Disley, dis three, I'm finally gonna have a three-year-old. I can't imagine three being any harder than two has been for her, but we'll see.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Teddy's three was way easier than his two. My daughter, right now, is doing this whole thing where her phrase is I think I told you that. Okay, fine. But she does it like this, and she like crosses her arm. She goes, Okay, fine. And now she has started to distinguish mad versus sad. Oh yeah, my like she'll tell me I'm mad. I'll be like, Well, why are you mad and not sad? Please explain to me the difference. Because if you're mad, or she'll growl at me. Oh, the growling is like whining right now. Oh, the whining is the whining kills me. Then nothing, nothing gets me more.
SPEAKER_02Use your normal voice. Use your normal voice.
SPEAKER_01Or like when they baby talk, like you're you're three and five. Why are we baby talking?
SPEAKER_02I'm not even gonna imitate it because I don't want to trigger someone who's listening, but it's so annoying.
SPEAKER_01And the whining, the whining is literally nails down a chalkboard for me. Yes.
SPEAKER_02And I'm I don't tell her, I'm like, no one will ever listen to you if you talk like that. I'm not gonna listen to you if you talk like that. No, use your normal voice.
SPEAKER_01Have a calm conversation with me. Be direct, tell me what you want. Yeah, quit your whining. Yeah, oh god. Oh, it drives me crazy. But she's out of control, so I'm very interested to see what three is gonna look like. It's gonna be great. It is gonna be great.
SPEAKER_02I'm I will eat these words most likely, but I don't eat this cake. I am a firm believer that with Teddy, we kind of put in the work at two with so much talk about feelings, coping, all the things, tantrums, big feelings. That like by the time he was three, I feel like we had laid such a good foundation, it wasn't that bad. And I feel the same way with AJ. It's been truly chaotic. But we're really putting in the work to help her understand her feelings, help her through her meltdowns, talk about you know what is mad, what is sad, what's it it's okay to be sad, it's not okay to lick the door or like whatever it is.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, licking the door.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. So whatever is going on. And I think I'm really hoping and praying that the work we've been putting in during this really tough phase of two will like solidify during three. And I'm sure there will be new challenges during three. I'm not saying like it's sunshine and rainbows ever, you know, after that, but as far as feelings and the sass and the screaming and the meltdowns, I'm really hoping we're giving her the skills she needs to like move through that. The the advantages of having a deeply feeling emotional range kid are so wonderful because the highs are so high and the excitement is so pure and the joy. Tonight, AJ and I were eating dinner, and I was like, AJ. And I didn't want to, I didn't want to yell because I didn't want to alert Poppy, but I was like, There's a bunny in the yard. There's a bunny. And she's like, Oh, what? And gets up and she looks out the window and she's just like, a bunny, a bunny, bunny. She's like so excited, and like that joy, you know, like Teddy gets excited about stuff too, but his ceiling is a little bit lower, right? And his floor is higher. So like his lows are not as low, but his highs are not as high. Yeah, yeah. I will deal with the lows because it is fun. The highs are so super high. Highs are so cute.
SPEAKER_01It's so fun.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, both advantages to both. I love that we as parents get to experience two very different types of children because it's they're both so fun and they're open.
SPEAKER_01Very fun, very fun. Taking you off your soapbox for a minute.
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01You don't have to be sorry. You don't have to be done, you don't have to be done. But we're gonna step off the soapbox for a second. And what soapboxes do our listeners want to hear from Mare? Oh God. Tell us. I have so many soapboxes. Write it in. We're very excited for Susan Dude. Summer. Summer is going to be so fun. So, Mare, Mayor is gonna run her 5K. We've signed up for 5K. We know I caught you in the lightning round. It's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_02I can't say I'm excited for it, but I'm not dreading it. Oh, yeah. Okay, I will say that. What's your big goal? My big goal is to run the whole thing and not walk. I love that. Even if it's a very splotting dog. That's great.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm a run walker, so I think that's a great goal for me too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm nervous about just like my body running and like what the impact of running will do to like my joints and my hips and my knees, right? Like, I've just never been a runner, so my body's not used to that mychical motions. We're gonna have to ease into it. 100%.
SPEAKER_01You might be surprised. We'll see. Yeah, or or you might hate it. And we did it and we check a box. Just hold on. It's gonna be really funny. So follow along our socials because that's gonna be a fun little series that we're gonna do as we train Mare for her 5K. Yeah, we're gonna follow along Mare's journey and my coaching her through it. If you want to join us on the 5K, shoot us an email. We would love to have Friends of the Pond with us, whether it's on the race course or on the sidelines cheering us on that day. So shoot us an email if you wanna kind of be a part of that journey. We're already building the team, so it's not just gonna be us two.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's a couple other fun guests we're gonna have on that team. Yeah. So if you are down to do it with us and you're local to the area, monscript.gmail.com, send us an email. We'll send you all the details of when and where it is and all of that.
SPEAKER_01Yes, all the stuff. We have some other fun things lined up. You're gonna get to see some like outtakes and like never before seen clips from season one, which I think is gonna be really fun just to kind of revisit and just see kind of a little bit of more of the behind the scenes.
SPEAKER_02And our fitness journey is gonna continue. We have some very fun ideas for spicing up our driveway workouts that we'll make on their way together. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_01It's getting so nice out. We're almost ready for them. So close. I think we're almost there. So if you guys don't know, Mir and I work out in the driveway in the summer. We have a rower and a bunch of dumbbells, and we meet at 6 a.m. in the driveway and work out. Work out. Meg just kicks my butt. I show up and I go, What are we doing today? And I'm like, this is we're gonna have shit together. Yeah. We're getting our asses in shape. Yeah. Whatever that means.
SPEAKER_02I mean, so that's gonna entail running now, and we have a whole arsenal of TikTok fitness things that we're gonna do at season two.
SPEAKER_01And we will see you guys in November.
SPEAKER_02In November. I think I want to underscore too. This is a very intentional break. Summer is busy, everyone's busy, and we're excited to focus in on our socials and have some fun and do the spiky and all this stuff, but we are so amped for season two and already are ready to kick it off, and we will absolutely be back in November.
SPEAKER_01We can't finish our final episode without a lightning round. Obviously. Obviously. I literally just made this up. It's just it's gonna be quick. I'm ready. Okay. I've been training all season for this. Okay, we are going to do an unscripted lightning round. Okay. So I'm gonna ask you a question that you have to fire the answer and then fire a question. Oh my god. And we're gonna go bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, and we're gonna see if we can do this. Okay. Okay, so we have a clock going. So we're gonna we're gonna start in about 10 seconds. I'm gonna fire the first question. Okay. And then we're just gonna see how many questions we can get off in a minute. Okay. You ready? Yes. Okay. Three, two, one. Favorite episode of season one.
SPEAKER_02That was gonna be my question. Um, um, um, the coaching one. Okay. I really left that one. Who's your favorite guest?
SPEAKER_01Ooh, um, Sammy. I think. Matt and Cece. Oh, it's really hard to choose. It's really hard, Chelsea. Alan, I don't know. I loved them all. We had so many great guests.
SPEAKER_02What was your favorite thing you drank on the podcast? The the wine that had the owl on it. That was my favorite one. Okay, okay. Which guest would you most like to see? Dream guest for season two? Taylor Swift.
SPEAKER_01Ah, dream bag, girl. Always, always dream bag. Oh, favorite book you're excited to read this summer?
SPEAKER_02I might do an Avatar reread. Oh. Yeah, yeah, in preparation for the new book. I had one. Where was it? Well, uh, pop quiz. What song won our Christmas bracket for us? Not the fan one. Oh, oh, oh, oh, the price spring skin song.
SPEAKER_01That was awful. I was so mad about that. Oh, which one won the fan one?
SPEAKER_02Uh Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays in Sync. No, no, no, no, no, no. Um, um, the in sync one, though, one, didn't it? Song of a bitch, what was it? It was the Mariah Carey one, right? Oh, now we have to check. We're at the we're at our minute. We did it though. That was pretty good. That was good.
SPEAKER_01That was fun. That was great.
SPEAKER_02That was a great way to end season. That was so fun and stressful. Okay, hang on. Here's the holiday bracket.
SPEAKER_01Figure out the holiday bracket. I'm gonna eat another bit of this cake. Wait, there's so many.
SPEAKER_02I have to really, really click through here.
SPEAKER_03Come on, go through. I got it, I got it, I got it. Oh, it was okay, okay. Um round of 16, round of eight, final four, finals. It was all I want for Christmas is you. Mariah Carey. Yeah, that's what I said.
SPEAKER_01You were right. I was right. Correct. Yeah, I know everything. Yeah, you do remember everything. You have an incredible memory.
SPEAKER_02I don't doubt my memory and my ability. You doubted your memory. You were like, I think. No, you were right. It was Mariah Carey, All I Want for Christmas is you. You have an incredible memory. If I don't write something down, it is immediately out of my brain. So I defer to you.
SPEAKER_01Oh Queen. I'm like the elephant in the room, literally. Oh, because elephants never feel like Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was like, why are you calling yourself an elephant?
SPEAKER_01I got it. Because I remember. So, guys, check out our socials all summer long. They're gonna be so fun. Over the next week or two, we're also gonna solicit some feedback. So please, please, please give us your feedback. We want to know what you guys are thinking, what you love, what you what you want to hear more of, what you think we could do less of, anything different do different. That's a way better, nicer way to put it. Do less, do less things, do less.
SPEAKER_02I do not know how to do less, but I could do different if you give me specific features.
SPEAKER_01If you want less, go find less. Thank you. Yeah, girl. So, with that said, mobs off script on TikTok and Instagram, mobsoffscript at gmail.com. Send us a text.
SPEAKER_02And I think this episode would not be complete if we did not give a big, giant thank you to everyone who's tuned into season one. You all are incredible. Every text, every email, every comment, every conversation. If you have said to Meg or I, oh hey, I saw the podcast or I listened to this episode and I heard this. That truly made our entire year.
